Betsy and I were given free tickets tonight to attend the Christmas Spectacular at Thomas Road Baptist Church, formerly called the Living Christmas Tree. During the intermission they were taking a love offering for the Liberty God Parent home. They shared a video special on their ministry to mothers and babies with clips of several families’ testimonies and their experiences of adopting a child. Betsy and I both cried as we listened to the stories of how families were so blessed and how we are commanded by scripture to take care of the orphans! All of my life I have lived in the Lynchburg area, and I have heard mention of the God Parent home, but have never had their entire ministry outlined beautifully for me. Now here we are just a few days into our praying, and God clearly continues to push us in the direction of adoption. (John 14:13-14) It is clear to me we hear God through prayer when we are asking for his will to be done and not ours!! We were completely overwhelmed tonight by the Spirit and feel strongly that this God is continuing to lead us to adopt.

We spent the day together Christmas shopping and running errands. It was a great afternoon together relaxing and mostly enjoying each other’s company. In the evening we decided to go check out the Snow Flex for the first time and enjoy a cup of coffee. We watched several people bite the dust on the ice and huddled around our warm cups in the cold. We then headed to the new movie theater to see Blindside. Neither of us had heard or seen anything about the movie other than that it was about football, and Andrew and Michelle had highly recommended it. Betsy had gotten free movie tickets at work, so we thought it would be a fun one to see.
Since we had no idea what the movie was about, and we had been praying for God’s continued direction, the movie “blindsided” us. It was about a young black American who had a rough past and childhood. He was taken in by a wealthy family because he had no where else to go. Betsy and I were both moved to tears in the end.

As we continue to pray about this adoption and prepare for Christmas God has laid a beautiful coat of snow on the ground here in the mountains!! It is cold but it is so fun to have 17 inches on the ground! Dozer loves it too! :)
We ventured out to Lowes in Jareds Truck and picked up Sarah and Danny along the way! We went to Lowes and had to dig to find a Christmas tree for Danny and Evelyn. Jared finally found one while Sarah and I enjoyed playing on the mounds of snow in the parking lot!

I recently ordered a book to learn more about adoption and I have enjoyed being bundled up inside and learning the "Adoption lingo" and reading testimonies of families that have adopted! There is A LOT of information about all the paperwork involved in the process and a lot of it I dont understand but I know that God is going to guide us every step of the way!
