blessing in a stroller when we run next year!
And of course we enjoyed some playtime and snuggle time with Tank and Tapanga!

Run for Kids 5K
Jared and I went to Leesburg this past weekend and ran in a 5K for kids in Ethiopia. My sister in law, Tana, ran too! We had a great time and it was special for us to get to meet another family that had adopted from Ethiopia and to run to help orphans in our baby's home country!

15 Months of Being on the Waitling List
This past Saturday, April 28th, marked 15 months of being on the waiting list for our baby. We had a productive month in paperwork stuff for BCS. We had our adoption physicals re done this month and are currently working on paperwork to update our fingerprints. We should be receiving our updated homestudy any day now. When we receive it and send it off, we should be traveling to WV to have our fingerprints done electronically again. Hard to believe that its been 18 months since we did that the first time! Unfortunately this summer we will begin the long process of updating and redoing most of our dossier too due to everthing expiring..... I slowly getting geared up to conquer that thick notebook again.
We have had a good month of celebrating my birthday in Roanoke, seeing family, celebrating Jesus Resurection with our new church family www.facebook.com/RiverChurchVa, loving on our precious nephews and our neice and Jared has spent lots of time in Gods beautiful outdoors! I dont have pictures of all our fun adventures but here are just a few pictures of Jared enjoying the river. I cant wait to join him on the river when it gets a little warmer and I can get a tan!
If I am really honest with you, this journey is getting really long and some days I feel like a part of my heart is on another continent and it makes waiting so much harder! I guess its normal for a mother to be to long to meet her sweet baby! I am sooooo grateful to be called to this journey and that we will have a son or daughter when this is all over with! I keep telling myself that all of this waiting and paperwork will be worth it! Last week God reminded me the following......
Praise the Lord that he is handling all the details of this process. It spoke volumes to my heart that I just need to trust him and his perfect hand in this process. He already knows how this whole process is going to play out and I need to quit trying to control and plan out how I think things should go. So if you are one of our prayer warriors reading this, can you pray that my mind would think more and more like Jesus and less like my own? I want to be his hands and feet and carry out this mission that he has so graciously given to us with him receiving all the glory.
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised Hebrews 10:36
Family Time!
Ok I am a sucker and love my two nephews and my neice! We visited my grandparents a couple weekends ago and Tapanga and Jackson got to meet one another! It was a sweet and memorable day! Here are some precious pictures of these darling kiddos! :) I look forward to the day when Baby Africa can meet all their cousins, grandparents and great grandparents!

Road Trip!
On April 20th Jared and drove to Richmond to be a part of the Bethany Christian Fellowship Dinner. We enjoyed our 2 1/2 hour drive to Richmond and arrived early only to find that Bass Pro Shop was just 3 miles from our destination. Jared was pumped! Whats not exciting about tons of big bucks, boats, fishing lures, old man fishing clothes and camo?? Jared loves that place and Im always a good sport about going to look around with him. I look forward to the day when baby Africa is with us, because then I will have a partner that will too enjoy the giant fish tank! We left without spending too much and it was a fun thing to do while waiting on the dinner to start. :) Did I mention that I LOVE MY MAN and his love for the outdoors? :)
We arrived at the swank hotel where the dinner was being held, only to realize that we may be a tad underdressed and to learn that we would be eating with some government officials, business owners and then thankfully other adoptive families like us! Here are some pictures of us outside waiting to go in for the dinner.
We ate an incredibly delicious meal and I so would have taken a picture of it, but it wasn't that kind of environment if you know what I mean.... Regardless, the food was awesome and the evening got even better when the other families shared their stories and the wonderful impact that Bethany Chrisitan Services had been in their journey to adopt their sweet kiddos. It was a great evening filled with scripture, testamonies and seeing precious kids happy and healthy in loving homes. The main speaker of the evening was Mike D. and he shared about their many adoptions through BCS. They have a wonderful testimony about God breaking their hearts for orphans and special needs children. We especially loved hearing about their two Ethiopian girls who were adopted and when they learned English, informed their new parents that they had a sister that was still in Ethiopia. The family was able to find the girls sister and bring her home to America to be a part of their family! He said the reunion in Dulles Airport of the three girls was unbelievable! I love it! We got to meet one of their Ethiopian girls and talk with Mike about some of their experience in Ethiopia which was really cool. It was a great evening and we were so glad that we made the trip and also earned some education hours towards our adoption!
