A Sweet Song from Evie

July 23, 2012

We are quickly approaching 18 months of waiting to see our sweet baby Africa’s face! We are at the beach having a wonderful time with family and enjoying our time away from our normal lives. Evie just sent me an email with our babies song and a sweet, short journal she has kept. What a blessing to have a glimpse into her heart.  I praise the Lord for the work he has done in all of us and how much he will teach us through this precious child!! I look forward to the day she can sing this song to our little one and enjoy the beauty of God’s sovereign plan for this sweet little baby.

Baby Africa's Song
Written By Grandma Evie

Away, away.

Mommy got a message from God one day,

while reading her Bible and bowing to pray.

Daddy got the word from the Lord the same way.

A baby from Africa, far, far away.

1st Chorus

Away, away where the elephants spray.

Away, away where giraffe necks sway.

Away, away where the rhinoceros stomps.

Away, away where the antelope romps.

The plan now affirmed, was crystal clear.

But the time of your coming would not be near.

There was work to be done for you, little one.

All of it worth it, though not much fun.

2nd Chorus

Away, away where the lioness hunts,

away, away where the monkeys jump.

Away, away where the bushbuck leaps,

away, away where the hyena creeps.

Fingerprints, photographs, home interviews.

Dossiers, documents, proving fitness for you.

The Lord was now testing our faith in Him

confirming this calling is more than a whim.

Hurray, hurray the final okay.

We’re packed, we’re psyched and on our way.

On a plane to Ethiopia,

odyssey, ecstasy, cornucopia

3rd Chorus

Away, away where the nyala dances,

away, away where the gazelle prances.

Away, away where the leopardess scouts,

away, away where the hippopotamus spouts.

Now home, now home, we’re finally here,

growing our love and dispelling all fear.
A gift from above that is purely divine,
now we can see His perfect design.

Hurray, hurray, a babe all our own
We’ll care for you tenderly ‘til you are grown.
