16 Months of Waiting and a Few Set Backs

On 5-28-12 while we were camping at Lake Moomaw, we celebrated being on the waiting list for 16 months. We are so grateful for all that God continues to teach us during this LONG wait but I have to be honest that I never dreamed we would be waiting this long.

On Monday, when we got home from an awesome weekend of camping with the Harkers we received a letter telling us we had to be in WV on June 5th for our USCIS fingerprints appt. That meant we had one weeks notice and we both quickly realized we were scheduled to be working that day.   Jared had just started a new job and we were bummed that he would have to ask for a day off already.
But as we continued to go through the stack of mail we opened another letter that said our entire case had been abandoned!!! I’m sorry but what did that say?? ABANDONED! (Insert meltdown for Betsy here.  Not proud about my tears but I was totally overwhelmed and bummed again.)  Jared thankfully was very optimistic and encouraged me to call in the morning for further details.
So needless to say, I got on the phone first thing the next morning and found out that our case had indeed been abandoned. B-U-M-M-E-R! I honestly could hardly hold myself together on the phone as the lady informed me that we didn’t meet our deadline. I pleaded for some grace and unforunately we did not receive any.  :(  This meant that we would unfortunately have to pay another large fee and wait to be given another day to travel to West Virginia soon.  We again are disappointed about the setback but trust that God's timing is so much better than ours.
